Hi friend,
I wanted to share what was on my heart today. Maybe this word isn’t just for me — maybe it’s for you too.
Lately, I’ve felt the weight of so many things — the waiting, the uncertainty, the wondering if things will ever turn around. And as I was praying, this verse came to mind and settled so deeply in my spirit:
“By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.”
— Psalm 42:8 (NIV)
I just sat there for a moment, letting that soak in. Because maybe like me, you’ve been trying to keep going while carrying a lot — doing your best, trusting God, but still feeling a little worn and weary.
This verse reminded me that even when life feels uncertain, God’s love is steady. It doesn’t depend on how good the day is going or how much faith we can muster. His love is directed toward us — intentionally, constantly, faithfully.
By Day — He’s Still Working
It says, “By day the Lord directs His love.”
That means while you’re doing the everyday things — taking care of your family, showing up to work, trying to make ends meet — His love is at work too. You might not see the whole picture right now, but He’s weaving things together in ways you can’t imagine.
Even in the hard moments when you’re saying, “God, where are You?” — His love is still being directed your way.
By Night — His Song Remains
Then it says, “At night His song is with me.”
Something about the night makes us face what we’ve been trying to push aside all day — the fears, the what-ifs, the disappointments. But here’s the thing: when the world goes quiet, God doesn’t.
He gives us a song in the night. It might not sound like music, but it’s peace that calms your spirit. It’s that little glimmer of hope that says, “You’re not forgotten.” It’s His presence wrapping around you when the tears start to fall.
He’s the God of Your Life — All of It
The psalmist ends the verse saying, “a prayer to the God of my life.”
That part hit me. Because He’s not just the God of our good days. He’s the God of our whole life.
The messy parts. The waiting parts. The “I don’t understand” parts.
And maybe that’s where you are right now — praying through the pain, still trying to trust.
Friend, I want you to know: He hears you.
He sees you.
And He hasn’t stopped directing His love or singing over you — even now.
A Reminder for You (and Me)
If your heart feels heavy, hold onto this truth today:
-
By day, His love is guiding you — even when you can’t see the way.
-
By night, His song is surrounding you — even when you feel alone.
-
And every moment in between, His presence never leaves.
Maybe this word isn’t just for me. Maybe it’s for you too.
Because God hasn’t forgotten you. His love is still in motion, and His song is still playing over your life.
Keep holding on. Your story isn’t over.
